What is the Fantastic Home Facelift
Gladys Hill retired to her wooden-framed home in South East Gainesville after nursing in New York. Lillian Walls lives in Cedar Heights in a block house in North East Gainesville. Her granddaughter visits often to assist her as she has had both legs amputated and uses a wheelchair to maintain her mobility. Willie Mae Barnes lives in the South East Gainesville home that she first lived in when she was married, which has now been converted to a block house. She had a stroke which decreased her abilities to see and walk safely, and now uses a walker.
By completing three service projects with each of these three neighbors, we will give their three homes a fantastic facelift! Neighbors volunteering to provide a fresh coat of paint, newly planted greenery, and one home repair for each home will demonstrate how we can wrk together to express care, concern, and respect for our senior citizens who are widows.
